Late Night Weekend The Assists Late Night
weekend event is the foundation’s
signature fundraising event; it is chalked full of activity
for 10 friends, who have the opportunity
to spend the basketball tip-off weekend with Coach Self
and the rest of the Jayhawk men’s basketball program
as honorary coaches. The
experience is designed to give them an idea of what it
is like to be the coach of the Jayhawks.
In 2007 the festivities began on October 12th with the
honorary coaches joining in on media day activities, including
team pictures and Coach Self’s press conference. This
was followed by locker room pep talks and beach seating
for Late Night, the Baylor football game, and a private
party at the Self’s home. The weekend culminated
with the veryfirst private tour of and
reception at the new National Association of Basketball
Coaches – College Basketball Experience at the Sprint
Center in Kansas City.
