LAWRENCE, Kan. (June 30, 2009) –Due to a scheduling conflict, Kansas Men’s Basketball Coach Bill Self and his wife Cindy announced that the second annual Bill’s Basketball Boogie has moved its date from October 2, 2009 to the second weekend in June 2010 (June 11-12) at the NABC’s College Basketball Experience next to the Sprint Center in downtown Kansas City.
“Changing the date of the Boogie was not an option, but it was a bitter-sweet decision. The conflict was one that would have greatly impacted both events that we are totally committed to supporting. Our Boogie host committee and others involved have planned a fabulous party at the CBE and our Assists Foundation depends on the money raised to meet our commitments to the community. Rather than changing all of the plans and moving the party to a different location, we will keep the plans in place and postpone the Boogie until June 2010,” announced Coach Self.
The star-studded event is an unforgettable opportunity to mingle with celebrities, KU basketball alumni, players and coaches. Participants can boogie the night away with live entertainment featuring Disco Dick and the Mirror Balls, bid on spectacular packages in the live and silent auction, and enjoy delicious food and refreshing beverages.

The Assists Late Night Weekend is the foundation’s signature fundraising event and is held the first weekend of college basketball season. It is our opportunity to share the anticipation and responsibilities that go along with being an assistant coach on the Jayhawks staff as they embark on a new season. The weekend is chalked full of activity for ten couples to spend the college basketball tip-off weekend with Coach Self and the rest of the Jayhawk men’s basketball program as honorary assistant coaches.
